I love the clever, playful responses from students.

After a while even the rare profanity-laden or otherwise off-color reply is somehow humorous (though not generally worthy of a response).

The more typical process-oriented responses are satisfying in their own way, helping students navigate the world of admissions.

this is great. Email can be a powerful tool. I wish people spent as much time crafting messages like these as they spend on tweaking the technology / tools.

The only emails I get from parents generally focus on them being upset with their student who is already here, and how they’re going to call a lawyer if I don’t resolve their problem immediately.

Oh, to be in a department that deals with students and parents when they’re not yet jaded by university red tape…
